April7 Xi’an to Xi’ning, leaving Xi’an on April 7, 3U8687 7:50am, arrival at 9:10 am, to be picked up and transfer to station, board the train for Lhasa
April8 Day 1 enjoy the train travel (have view to the Desert-The Gobi, Qinghai Lake, and Chola Lake, snow mountain peaks, animals beside the railway), arrival in Lhasa in the afternoon at 2:55pm (K9801) (about 24 hours train, covering 1960km), our Tour van (with about 9 seats, Very experienced Tibetan local driver and your Tibetan tour guide will wait for your family and pick you up and transfer to downtown of Ancient Lhasa, accommodation in Dhood Gu Hotel (two rooms, each room with one extra bed, good 3 star hotel with very nice location, quite close to Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Bazaar area, about 3-4 minutes walk).
April9-10 Day 2, 3 sightseeing in Lhasa: Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulinka-Summer Palace of Dalai Lama, Jokhang Temple, Drepung Monastery, Barkhor Square, Tibet Museum (also see few programs on Day6)
April11 Day 04: Lhasa-Drak Yerpa Meditation Caves-Ganden monastery-Tedrum Nunnery
Morning, leave Lhasa, drive to visit Drak Yerpa Meditation Caves (which locates about 22 km to the east of Lhasa), have view to the mountain side farmers’ village, fields, then we drive to visit Ganden monastery (about 45 km away), then drive down to Medrokonggar County to have lunch around 2 pm, and we drive slowly and safely along the not well paved road to Tedrum Nunnery, stay in the Typical Shambhala Source which a window to learn Tibet and Tibet culture (by the way we can drive little bit further to enjoy the Tedrum Hotspring.
April12 Day 05: Tridum nunnery - Reting - Damshung
Morning driving Reting monastery, Visit the Reting monastery, Late afternoon drive through Pundo pass to Chakla pass to Damshung County (about 175km, not well paved road), stay in tourist standard guesthouse (Jinzhu Hotel, about 2 star standard)
April13 Day 06: Damshung County-Namtso lake - Lhasa
Leave early morning from Damshung, Namtso lake, spend the morning at the lake and hike around the Tashi Dor hermitage cave chapels and the hills there. That afternoon drive back to Lhasa through Yangpachen nomadic grass-lands and then into Tulong valley possibly stopping in local farming villages. Sleep in Lhasa, Dhood Gu Hotel
April14 Day 07 sightseeing in Lhasa (visit few sites we did not see on Day 2 and day 3)
April15 Day 08 Lhasa-Lake Yamdrok Tso (Ride a yak on the mountain pass and take photos, takes about 1-2 USD p p), then drive onward to Gyantse (visit to Karola Glacier from the besides the road), accommodation in Jianzang Hotel or similar hotel if late booking, visit Pelkhor Monastery and Kumbum Pagoda
April16 Day 09 visit the Pala Manor, then we drive to visit Shalu Monastery, then drive to Shigatse city, the 2 nd largest city of Tibet, 90kms / 2hrs, after lunch in Shigatse city, Accommodation in Shigatse Manasarovar Hotel or similar one if late booking
April17 Day 10 one extra day in Shigatse city: we will visit the Tashilhunpo monastery in the morning, Shigatse traditional markets, and in the afternoon take easy visit to one local Tibetan family if you like, or some free time on your own, hotel as above
April18 Day 11 Shigatse - Sakya monastery- Shegar Town (about 300km, well paved road, enjoy the landscape along the way), optional entry to Qudeling Monastery, accommodation in Shegar Tenzin Hotel or similar one if late booking
April19 Day 12 Shegar-Rongbuk Monastery (100 km), arrival on the high altitude of 4900 m around the middle afternoon, trek or take the local environmental vehicle to Campsite, stay in the Campsite tent if available that moment (or we can stay flexibly in the guesthouse nearby the Rongphu Monastery area).
April20 Day13 Campsite or Rongbuk Monastery-Mt. Everest-Zhangmu, o/n in Baima Hotel or Sherpa Hotel or Gang Gyan Hotel (2 star standard hotel)
April21 Day14 Cross border, our Nepal staff (private driver, vehicle and guide) will pick up your family and transfer to Kathmandu around 6 pm local time (123 km from Border, but the road condition is not good and sometimes there is strike on the way, so it takes longer time to get to KTM)-please inform us whether you need good price for additional Nepal tour or not (we have local support there).
