April 26th Sunday Day1: arrival Lhasa by flight from Chengdu 3U8697 (Sichuan airline-Terminal 1), 12:25-2:25pm---free afternoon in Lhasa on your own

Your local guide will meet you upon your arrival in Tibet and will escort you to Lhasa. On the way, you will enjoy the heart-stopping views along the Yarlung Tsangpo River (the longest river in Tibet). After arrival at your hotel, the rest of the day will be free for you to explore the local area and acclimatize yourself to this high altitude city at the top of the world.

April 27th Monday Day 2: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street and Sera Monastery

The first day of sightseeing starts from Lhasa's cardinal landmark- Potala Palace, a structure of massive portions. Its towering image is shown on all travel literature, but nothing can compare to your first sight of this incredible, amazing wonder of the world. It is absolutely awe-inspiring and you will be enchanted as you visit the rooms, halls and chapels of the palace.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Jokhang Temple which is the spiritual Centre of Tibet. Every day, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek here from long distances to worship. The temple is the product of Han, Tibetan and Nepalese architectural techniques. Finally we will visit Barkhor Street which is the oldest street in this very traditional Tibetan city. In the afternoon we are going to visit Sera Monastery.

April 28th Tuesday Day 3: Lhasa-Lake Yamdrok-Karola Glacier--Gyantse-Shigatse

Today you will drive about 350KM to Shigatse. Take a look at Yamdrok Lake on the way and overlook Kora Glacier. Yamdrok Lake is a coiling, many-armed body of water shaped like a scorpion. It doubles back on itself on the western side, effectively creating a large island within its reaches. For Tibetans, it is one of the four holy lakes of Tibet. And the home of wrathful deities. The lake lies several hundred metres below the road, and in clear weather is a fabulous shade of deep turquoise. Far in the distance is the huge massif of Mt. Nyenchen Kangtsang (7191m).

In the afternoon, you will arrive in Gyangtse and go for the tour of Gyangtse monastery Palkhor Temple, built in the 15th century, it is situated in the west of Gyantse Town with mountains enclosing form three sides of the east, west and north. Its uniqueness is that its three sects of Buddism-Sagya, Nyingma and Gelugpa stayed harmoniously under one roof.

After visiting Palkhor Monastery, drive further about 90KM towards Shigatse. Upon arrival there, directly check in at the hotel and rest when it is about dinner time.

April 29th Day 4: Shigatse-Lhasa

Shigatse which is the second largest city in Tibet. It’s also the home-town of Panchen Lamas. In the morning, you will drop a visit of Tashilhunpo monastery. Tashilhunpo, sprawls on the hillside of Mt. Nicer, southwest of Shigatse, and covers an area of about 300,000 square meters. There are many valuable and rare historical articles in the monastery. After the visit, drive towards Lhasa via Yarlung River (Brahmaputra River)? It is a 6 hours ride.

April 30h Day 5: Lhasa Free day

May1st Day 6: Exit Tibet from Lhasa—fly to Chengdu by MU5474 12:55-3:55pm

Free morning for shopping, to buy some souvenirs for your families and friends. Departure transfer to the airport and say good-bye to Tibet.
