It is a high altitude lake in the shape of a scorpion surrounded by snow-capped mountains. It is considered one of the holiest Tibetan lakes, so you shouldn’t miss it. We will arrive at the Karola Glacier shortly afterwards. You will enjoy the great proximity of its beautiful terrain because it is situated only steps away off the road. Our next stop is Pelkhor Chode Monastery, an important religious and historic site in the heart of Gyantse town. You can enjoy the panorama of the Himalayas at Gawula Pass (5198m). We will continue to drive along the newly paved zigzag road until we reach Rongpuk or the Camp to stay overnight there. You might catch a glimpse of the sunset that turns the Everest peak into gold. Between May and October 15, we will normally travel the last few kilometers to reach the Camp to stay at the nomad’s tent house there. From Oct.15 till end of April, we will instead stay at Rongbuk Monastery’s guesthouse or Tashitsong town, 40 km from Everest Base Camp at a lower altitude.
